2017 Lexus CT200h Review

Unlike many hybrid cars which began life as a gasoline-only model, the Lexus CT 200h was designed only as a hybrid. Introduced for the 2012 model year, the five-door hatchback has a sporty look with plenty of power and handling to place it squarely in the fun-to-drive category.

The Lexus Hybrid Drive system makes a very effective use of its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor (which produce a combined 134 horsepower) to offer enough torque to put a smile on your face even time you leave a stop light, while there is also top-end power to easily pass other cars on the highway. For more fun, simply select the “sport” driving mode to make the CT 200h even more responsive. Thanks to the hybrid set-up, the sporty driving experience doesn’t compromise fuel economy either. It has an EPA-estimated rating of 43 city / 40 highway mpg— the best of any Lexus.

With a starting price of $31,250, the CT 200h is the least expensive model in the entire Lexus product line, yet even as the “entry level” Lexus, it is replete with a long list of luxury items. Standard features include the eco-friendly NuLuxe upholstery that has the look of high-quality leather, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s  seat with power lumbar support, dual-zone climate control as well as a six-speaker audio system with voice recognition and Bluetooth hands-free capability.

Additional luxury options include premium audio with 10-speakers and six-disc CD changer, perforated leather seats, heated seats, rain-sensing wipers, moonroof and Lexus’ Pre-Collision System with automatic cruise control. To bring the sportiness to the next level, go for the top-of-the-line F Sport, which features a specially-tuned sport-suspension and a sportier look inside and out with a unique grille, two-tone 17-inch wheels and other accents as well as black upholstery, aluminum pedals and metallic trim on the dash.

Our test 2017 Lexus CT 200h, which included the luxury and navigation packages, as well as intuitive park assist and a power moonroof, was priced at $38,475.
