Newsday & AAA Travel Expo

The Newsday & AAA Travel Expo will take place at NYCB Live’s Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., Feb. 29-March 1. AAA Northeast members and Newsday subscribers can purchase discounted tickets.

“It’s a really unique and exciting experience to be a part of for AAA members and employees,” said Anne Lischwe, AAA Northeast’s manager of travel sales in Garden City, N.Y. “It’s a place where all of the members in the area come to get ideas for where they should travel to next.”

One of the most unique aspects of the event is the opportunity for members to book their next destinations on sight. “They really get the best deal,” Lischwe said. “I’ve been to a lot of different travels shows and there’s always good information to learn, but the Travel Expo has everything you need.”

The Travel Expo provides a kid-friendly experience with classic carnival booths and games for children of all ages. In addition to photo opportunities, a craft beer show and guest speakers, those in attendance can get a taste of everything AAA has to offer.

Here’s a recap of the 2019 Newsday & AAA Travel Expo and why some vendors can’t wait for this year’s event.

AAA Travel Marketplace

The AAA Travel Marketplace will be held March 6-8 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The show will feature over 100 different vendors that offer the best prices on cruises, road trips and destination packages. AAA Northeast members receive discounted tickets.

Dennis Hopper, director of travel technology at AAA Northeast’s Providence headquarters, has been involved in many travel events during his 40 years at the club. He said Travel Marketplace has evolved into the premier event in New England for AAA members.

“If you’re going to book travel, this is the best place to do it,” Hopper said. “We turn Gillette Stadium into basically a AAA branch office for the weekend and we offer all of our products and services.”

Members can also apply for TSA Precheck, an expedited screening program that can help travelers speed through airport security. Members can pre-enroll and make an appointment here.

Melissa Mennella, travel production coordinator at Providence headquarters, has also been involved since the beginning as well. This year, she is excited to help members book their dream vacations, which she expects to include the Caribbean, Italy and Ireland. “It’s the one time I get to be Wayne Brady,” Mennella said. “If someone sits in front of me, I know I’m going to make a deal with them. We’re going to figure out the very best for their investment.”

Travel presentations will run in six theaters, covering topics like U.S. travel, river cruising, Caribbean destinations, luxury offering and adventure and specialty travel.
