Have you ever wanted to swing a lightsaber, battle the First Order or see if you’re sensitive to the force? At Walt Disney World’s newest hotel, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which officially opened its doors on March 1, you can fully immerse yourself in the world of “Star Wars.”

This two-night excursion is an immersive experience that lies somewhere between an escape room and a theatrical production. Over the course of 45 hours, you and your fellow passengers will each have a chance to become part of your own unique “Star Wars” stories.

Bright Suns! Welcome Aboard the Halcyon

In the world of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, you are boarding a space cruise ship known as the Halcyon. When you check in, you’ll be taken into the stratosphere by a launch pod that lifts you from the real world to the decks of the Halcyon (a similar experience can be found at Epcot’s new restaurant, Space 220). The hotel’s only “windows” show the view of the stars and planets outside. There is, however, a small courtyard for those who need a quick breather. It’s called a “climate simulator,” naturally, and you might be able to catch a demonstration on the force while you’re there.

Experiences and Stories

The Halcyon might appear to be a civilian starcruiser, but some of the crew members have hidden Resistance affiliations. When the ship gets commandeered by a First Order lieutenant, everyone onboard must choose what side they’re fighting for. Will you aid the Resistance or will you pledge yourself to the First Order?

You’ll never run out of things to do with the comprehensive cruise itinerary that can be accessed on your datapad (otherwise known as your smartphone). You can learn how to pilot a starcruiser at bridge training, play a game of sabacc, use the force at lightsaber training and more.

As time goes on, you’ll become more and more involved with the storylines aboard the ship, like a purple Twi’lek pop singer who’s smuggling coaxium, a nervous crew member who may be a Resistance fighter in hiding, a droid carrying special information and two alien musicians who are falling in love. You may also run into more familiar Star Wars characters, like Chewbacca, Rey and even Kylo Ren. Ouannii, a Rodian keyboardist who only speaks Huttese, is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Every single cast member aboard the Halcyon has a story prepared about every room you enter or prop you interact with, and you’re sure to find unique stories around every corner. The experience is so immersive that when Kylo Ren says “You talk, or they scream!” the audience instinctively plays along and screams their heart out.

Galactic Amenities

There are three different cabin and suite styles to choose from, though you don’t have much time to spend in your room. The standard cabin features a queen sized bed and two bunks that are built into the wall. The galaxy class suite features a queen sized bed, two wall pull-down beds and a separate living space. The grand captain suite has two bedrooms featuring two queen-sized bed, two bunks, two wall pull-down beds and an ample seating area. Each room includes space-view “windows,” of course.

Standard cabin rates for a full, two-night voyage start at $4,809 for two guests, $5,299 for three guests and $5,999 for four guests.

While you’re aboard the Halcyon, you can enjoy meals at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, which transforms from a cafeteria by day to a moody music venue by night. You can enjoy exotic foods from across the galaxy, like Bantha beef tenderloin, Jogan fruit, multicolored bao buns and a blue shrimp cocktail. Passengers can also enjoy specialty cocktails over games of holographic sabacc in the Sublight Lounge.

Shore Excursion to Batuu

Like any cruise, the Halcyon offers shore excursions. The excursion to the planet Batuu will take you to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to fulfill special missions for your storyline. As a guest from the Halcyon, you’re entitled to Lightning Lane access to both Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. You can also get a free drink at Oga’s Cantina. You may wish to stay on Batuu to increase your trip’s immersion, but you are free to enjoy the rest of Hollywood Studios as well.
