Connecticut Women Artists National Open Juried Show
August 29 - September 25
Connecticut Women Artists, Inc., an organization dedicated to advancing women in the arts, invites the art-loving public to its Annual National Open Juried Exhibition at the Art Center East, opening on Saturday, Aug. 29 and closing on Friday, Sept. 25.
The exhibit showcases the work of women artists from across the U.S., working in media as diverse as painting, mixed media, drawing, collage, printmaking, fiber art, photography and sculpture. At a reception on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, from 1 to 3 p.m., several participating artists will receive approximately $2000 in cash awards.
CWA has promoted and supported professional women artists for over 90 years. Beginning in 1929, with a small group of some of the most outstanding American women artists of that era from Connecticut, CWA has grown to become a statewide organization of highly accomplished artists working in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, assemblage, photography, clay, metal, fiber, textiles and glass.
Carol Padberg, an artist who also directs the Interdisciplinary MFA at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, is juror for the exhibition.
