Hamden Symphony Fall Concert – “Massive Music”
November 22, 2019 EST$10 – $15
Hamden Symphony Orchestra, an all-volunteer community Orchestra in its 58th season, presents their Fall Concert, “Massive Music” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at Hamden Memorial Town Hall.
This performance showcases the full spectrum of instruments of the modern Orchestra, and will include the monumental “Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity” from “The Planets” by Gustav Holst.
The featured soloist for this performance will be Hamden Symphony Orchestra double bassist, Andrew Muench, who will perform Domenico Dragonetti’s “Concerto for Double Bass in A Major.”
The Branford Chorale (www.branfordchorale.com), a community choir in its 44th year, will join the Orchestra to sing the rousing hit “Anthem” from “Chess,” a musical composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of the famed pop-group ABBA.
Also featured will be Hamden Symphony’s Brass section, performing “Fanfare for the Vienna Philharmonic” by Richard Strauss. The spirited “Overture to Colas Breugnon” by Dmitri Kabelevsky will round out the program.
There is a suggested donation of $15 dollars ($10 for students and seniors) which will be accepted at the door.
