Hammond Castle Museum To Open for 45th Season

Hammond Castle Museum will open to the public for its 45th Season on Thursday, July 16, 2020. In keeping with the health and safety guidelines set forth by the State of Massachusetts, the museum will only offer online tickets sales for timed tours to access the interior of the museum. The 2020 Season schedule has been extended to offer more opportunities to visit the historic site. It is as follows:
- July – October: Open daily with tours beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running every half with last tours starting at 3:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursday and at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- July & August: Thursday evening candlelight tours at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Spiritualism Tour at 9:00 p.m.
- July & August: ‘Carry In-Carry Out’ Picnics with advance purchase of any of the Candlelight Tours. Reservations are required.
- November & December: open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
During the 2020 season, the museum will celebrate the unveiling and opening of the fully restored Eric Pape mural. The museum will also host a number of new, rotating exhibits including a greater focus on Hammond’s hundreds of military and consumer-based patents, a study of the museum’s eclectic architecture and a rotating display of Hammond’s collection of church vestments.
The museum remains dedicated to providing a safe environment for visitors. For the first time, visitors will be required to purchase timed tour tickets in advance of arriving at the museum as tour tickets will not be sold on premise. Face masks will be required at all times while inside and on the grounds of the museum. Other changes include social distancing where warranted, hand sanitizer stations and one-way flow of the museum for touring groups. The museum will also increase the frequency of cleaning procedures, limit the number of guests on tours and require staff to wear face masks at all times.
Hammond Castle Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is not handicapped accessible. The museum offers guided tours and numerous educational and cultural events throughout the year. It is also available for weddings and elopements.
