Hoodwinked from Heaven
June 28 EDT$25
Come see an original show of toe-tapping Texas tunes and the fatherly love that inspired them.
Elisa Brown, known internationally for her “eloquent voice,” and “incredible vocal talents with a heartfelt take on life,” takes us back home to her Texas roots in Hoodwinked from Heaven – an original, down-home show dedicated to her late father Bill. Though he always supported her international talent in classical music, Bill used to jokingly call the classics “long-haired music,” preferring the works of Hank Williams or Patsy Cline. But when Elisa’s father began to slip further and further into cognitive decline, he asked her to write some country and Americana songs just for him. Hearing them helped refresh the memory of their Texas adventures – not to mention their colorful cast of family characters!
These heart-warming, knee-slapping tunes are a celebration of the deeply American music that kept a family alive with hope and laughter – and continue the legacy of a father’s character and love.
As part of Elisa’s mission to help others through the arts, $5 from each ticket sold will be donated to The Rotary Foundation’s Polio Plus eradication program. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 30 years. Thanks in great part to Rotary’s Polio Plus Campaign, only a few cases of Polio remain endemic and only in Afghanistan and Nigeria. However, if all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.
