“Labor History & Madison Square” Walking Tour

September 2, 2018 EDT

Free

This Labor Day weekend, join the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership and professional guide Mike Kaback on a free “Labor History & Madison Square” walking tour through the historic Flatiron District. The tour will explore the history of labor and its connections to the vibrant neighborhood, including the first Labor Day Parade, rallies championing worker rights and workplace safety reforms, and the impact of the 1872 Fifth Avenue Hotel fire.

The special Labor Day tour will explore some of the neighborhood’s most notable landmarks, including the Flatiron Building, New York Life Insurance Building, MetLife Clock Tower and Appellate Courthouse. The tour takes place – rain or shine – on Sunday, Sept. 2, starting at 11:00 a.m., and begins at the southwest corner of Madison Square Park (in front of the William Seward statue) at 23rd Street and Broadway.

No advance registration is required. Free weekly tours are provided by the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District (BID).
