Wickford Art Association (WAA) will present “Seeing RED” from Feb. 7 to March 1, 2020. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public.
The Call for Entries registration is on Feb. 4 (11 a.m.-6 p.m.), Feb. 5 (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Feb. 6 (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) Artists may refer to wickfordart.org for submission guidelines and entry fees. The theme for the show is the color red — it’s fierce, signifies love, anger, warmth, danger, passion, war, etc. Red, as an emotionally intense color, will be interpreted by artists in a variety of ways.
The juror is Anthony Tomaselli, restaurateur, artist and entrepreneur — known to most Rhode Islander’s as the owner of his 3-restaurant franchise, T’s.
The “Seeing RED” opening reception is on Friday, Feb. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. where Tomaselli will present awards with cash prizes at 7:00 p.m.
The Wickford Art Association is a non-profit organization with over 450 members from Rhode Island and New England. The association hosts art shows and classes in its North Kingstown gallery and has produced the Wickford Art Festival every July since 1962. WAA is dedicated to educating, encouraging and inspiring artists and art lovers throughout the community.
