“Put me on a ship or plane and I’m a happy guy.”
Robert Berger is a man on the move. At first, it was work as an employee of Continental Airlines that brought him around the world. In retirement, it’s his own sense of wanderlust that has him booking trips to all corners of the world each year.
On his most recent vacation, an Alaska cruise tour in May 2019, Princess Cruises upgraded his cabin to a suite because of his frequent travel.
In 2016, Berger took a Princess cruise of the Far East that started in Singapore and included Thailand, Hong Kong and Vietnam. Berger’s most indelible experience of the journey was his interactions with the people of Vietnam.
“I was surprised how much they love Americans,” said Berger who lives in Essex Fells, N.J. “They’ve put everything behind them.”
His Vietnam experience highlights one of the great joys Berger gets out of traveling. “I travel along so I like to meet people. There are a lot of nice people in the world.”
He was so enamored with his Far East cruise that he’s booking a return trip. Later this year, Berger will take a Princess Cruise that starts and ends in Tokyo, with more stops in Japan, China and Vietnam.
He has no plans of stopping his excursions around the globe. In fact, for a future trip, he’d like to see the whole globe. “I’d love to take a trip around the world. That’s the dream.”
