Harry Lennix has starred in some of the biggest blockbusters of the past 20 years, including the “Matrix” series and “Man of Steel.” He currently plays Harold Cooper on the hit drama “The Blacklist,” which airs Fridays on NBC. But before building his acting resume, Lennix was cruising the Chicago streets in an unconquerable Honda Civic.
What was your first car?
It was an ’81 Honda Civic.
How did you acquire it?
I bought it from a friend. I paid $1,100 and drove it for a couple of years.
What did you love most about your first car?
It was a hunk of metal that was rusting but it lasted. It started every time in the deep of the Chicago winter. When fancy new cars wouldn’t start, this one would. It lasted for a good, long time.
What happened to it?
I sold it to another pal and we had to scrap it for parts.
What is your favorite memory of the car?
My sister had a brand-new car and when it was like 20 degrees below zero, hers did not start, but mine did. May the car long live in memory.
