CityScape: Orlando

CityScape: Orlando

Head on down to the land of fun and sun smack dab in the middle of central Florida: Orlando. Though it’s best known for its famous theme parks, Orlando is a vibrant city with surprises around every corner. Here are the best things to do and places to see while you’re there.

PLAY

Outside of all the playing you can do in the city’s theme parks, a quick trip on the Orlando Eye (the largest Ferris wheel on the East Coast) can give you a bird’s eye glimpse of what Orlando has to offer. Or visit the Morse Museum of American Art, which has the largest collection of Tiffany glass.

STAY

In Orlando, the hotel stay is half the fun. The cutthroat competition between hotels in the area has produced some of the most luxurious and interesting places to rest your head. Spend the night at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in downtown Orlando, filled with rich ambiance and complete with a spa, an art gallery and visiting musicians. Or stop at the boutique Alfond Inn, featuring Spanish Revival architecture, a picturesque pool and dog-friendly rooms. Millennial travelers might find themselves drawn to the Aloft Orlando Downtown, which offers a lobby pool table, slick bar, stylish rooms and Instagram-worthy design choices.

DINE

Orlando is home to a huge variety of restaurants and eateries. Foodies will love Victoria and Albert’s, a AAA Five Diamond Rated restaurant that gives you the option of dining in the chef’s kitchen. Or you could stop by A Land Remembered, a sumptuous steakhouse with elegant decor and even better food. If you’re looking for dinner and a show, stop by Taverna Opa, a Greek restaurant full of belly and Zorba dancers who’ll take it upon themselves to dance on top of your table. Those who want something more casual will delight at Graffiti Junktion, a wildly decorated bar that serves some of the best burgers in town. Its Iron City burger is not to be missed.
