Because they are fast at cooking , easy to clean and can help you cook tons of quick and easy air fryer recipes, air fryers have become the hottest commodity in home cooking, on par with the popularity of the Instant Pot.

But what exactly does it mean to air fry? An air fryer is a small, countertop appliance that bakes food at a high temperature and with a high-powered fan. This method of convection baking produces a crispy, juicy texture similar to deep frying. Unlike a deep fryer, an air fryer has no preheat time, and produces food with much less oil. Instead of immersing your food in oil, with an air fryer you can simply brush or spray your food with a small amount oil before frying it.

There is just the two of us. What size air fryer should I get?

    • we just got a 5.5 quart model and we are 2 people. it seems fine for smaller portion meals for 2. For example we split a box of frozen coconut shrimp as appetizer and then cooked 2 portions of salmon for main meal.

Get the larger fryer, cooks the same, and if at some point you want to cook a larger portion or more combinations of food at the same time you’ll be able.

I love my air fryer. Favorite things to make: mini Chinese dumplings (frozen), chicken hot “wings” with Frank’s ho wing sauce, grilled cheese sandwiches, grilled salmon. I want to try the steak recipe.

  • Been using an air fryer for a few months and wanted to try cooking bacon. The recipe I followed said to preheat the fryer. Big big big mistake. Blew a fuse affecting three outlets in my kitchen. The fuse box wasn’t indicating which fuse to switch. I had a very handy friend look at it. Said now I have to hire an electrician for a completely new fuse to be installed.

  • How do you keep food warm while baking in batches? I am borrowing my daughter’s AF and most meals need to cook in batches.

Hi Rita! To keep food warm, you could wrap it in tin foil while you’re working on the other batches. That should keep it warm for about thirty minutes. If you need to keep it warm a little longer, you can put it in the oven at your lowest temperature setting. Just make sure you don’t leave it in there for more than an hour, it could change the texture of your food. Thanks for reading!
