5 Questions With … Ashley Janke

Ever since she was a little girl, Ashley Janke dreamed of working in the fashion industry. She even received an associate’s degree in fashion buying & merchandising from Nassau Community College.

But after receiving formal training on the ins and outs of fashion commerce, she soon realized the industry part of it all didn’t appeal to her. So, she majored in marketing at Long Island University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2013.

All the while, Ashley founded and ran her own business for eight years before joining AAA. As an undergrad in 2009, she started Spa Girlz On-The-Go, a business that hosted in-home spa parties.

Ashley has been with AAA Northeast since 2014, starting as a marketing associate before moving on to specialist, senior specialist and now project manager. In her free time, you can find her baking, watching “Family Feud” or “Impractical Jokers,” or doing hairstyles now and then (she still has her cosmetology license).

Q: What is your favorite family holiday tradition?

A: I always look forward to Christmas Eve! My family does the feast of the seven fishes – I am usually too full for Christmas day festivities.

Q: Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2021?

A: 2020 was the most exciting and crazy year so far! I am looking forward to 2021 and traveling again. Next year I want to get back into my workout routine and try new things, like cooking something new every once in a while. My husband is a great cook and always thinks outside the box – not me, but I will try.

Q: What was the best present you ever received for the holidays?

A: There have been so many! I just love shopping for everyone else and watching them open gifts. I have four younger cousins and their excitement for gifts and tracking Santa is the best!

Q: What was the worst present you ever received for the holidays (be honest)?

A: It is not nearly as bad as some stories I have heard, but if I had to choose one it would be some winter apparel that was definitely not my style.

Q: Eggnog: Yes, Sometimes or Never? Explain …

A: Never – not a fan of creamy drinks. I will take a cup of coffee please!
